| Plan- Checking Fees Open |
| When the valuation of the proposed construction exceeds $1,000.00 and a plan is required to be submitted, a plan-checking fee shall be paid to the building official at the time of submitting plans and specifications. Said plan-checking fee shall be equal to one-half of the building permit fee for commercial, and one-fourth for one and two-family dwellings. |

All permit fees must be paid at the time of filing application. A non-refundable plan review fee in the amount of twenty-five (25) percent of the total permit fee for residential and, fifty (50) percent of the total permit fee for commercial.

| Fees can be waived administratively for federal, state, and local units of government which are funded by ad-valorem taxes. All other waiver requests shall be in accordance with applicable ordinances or resolutions adopted by the city council and established procedures. |

Building Department
The function of the Building Department is to protect the general health, safety and welfare of the public by administering and enforcing the City's building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, housing and other codes. Their efforts are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents and eliminate unsafe buildings.
As part of the enforcement process, major permits are issued for: building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical (heating, cooling, refrigeration). A permit is also required to erect a fence and for other minor construction projects such as storage sheds.
