The Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is the City's economic development arm. Since the CRA's inception in 1985, it has been involved in the renovation of more than 200 businesses and provided more than $330,000 in financial aid for rejuvenation of Palmetto.
The CRA has been able to spur this development with special taxing designations. As a means of enticing businesses, tax abatement is available for owners of commercial property within the redevelopment area who meet certain criteria. Approximately eighty percent (80%) of the CRA budget goes into renovating business and residential properties. The CRA is also involved in fund raising and receives a great many donations from local businesses to help leverage the funding.
The Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency's plans for revitalization are complete and goals are set for the future to enhance the quality of life across the City.
