Policy
It is the policy of the City of Palmetto to recruit, hire,
train and promote employees without discrimination because of race, religion, color, political affiliation, marital status, physical or mental disability, national origin, sex or age. This policy applies to all levels and phases of
personnel administration such as recruitment, testing,
hiring, training, promotion, transfer, leave practice, rates
of pay, selection of supervisory positions and employee
benefit programs.
The City adheres to this policy to maintain and build an
organization of the highest quality that provides equal

The City of Palmetto seeks to employ the most qualified
persons available. In this effort, the City conducts an
active job information and recruitment program. When
possible, the City attempts to fill vacancies by promotion
or transfer within the organization. If this does not yield
a suitable candidate, applications from other sources are

Promotion
It is the policy to the City of Palmetto to employ and
promote the most qualified individual available for any
given position. Promotion from within the organization is
desirable when possible and practical.
Transfers
Transfer opportunities shall be available to employees as
vacancies occur or as special requests and circumstances
warrant. Transfer is defined as the change of an employee
from a position to another position of equal rank and
status.

unlawful and could subject the City, its management,
directors and officers to legal liability.
