| Water and Sanitary Sewer Service
The city does not have its own
source of potable water but purchases approximately 1.5 million
gallons per day from Manatee County and pumps the water to all homes
and business within the city limits.
Numerous tests are conducted to ensure that the water meets all
the requirements of Federal and State regulations for safe drinking
water.
Wastewater is collected in the sewage collection system and
pumped to the City's wastewater treatment plant for treatment.
The City has 65 miles of water main pipes and 46 miles of sewer main
pipes.
For Water and Sewer Service:
The Customer Service Division is located in
Palmetto City Hall. The Customer service representatives
handle turn on/off of water/sewer service as well as meter reading,
checking for leaks and repair/replacement of residential meters.
A deposit is required for Water and sewer
service. You must provide a social security number or resident
alien ID number and picture identification as well as proof of
ownership or rental.
The utility payment history of new
applicants for service will be checked. If there is a history
of delinquent payments or if someone has left another utility owing
money, they may be required to place a deposit DOUBLE
the usual amount.
Your water meter will be read once per month. Your bill
will be mailed either on the 15th or the last day of the month,
depending on cycle/route. Bills are due and payable on the
16th day following the date of your bill. Bills not paid when
due are subject to a 10% late penalty and service will be terminated
after 45 days. You will be charged $20 for restoration of
service. In addition, the bill must be paid in full.
Charge for meter tampering is $50.
If you anticipate a problem with payment of your utility bill,
call the Customer Service Supervisor at (941) 723-4570.
