An unplanned water outage took place this morning at the intersection of 17th Street West and 13th Avenue West. The water main break was caused by a malfunction of a 12-inch diameter pvc [Polyvinyl Chloride] pipe. Some customers experienced low pressure or no water from approximately 3:00 am to 12:30 p.m. before repairs were completed and service restored by utility employees.
For the next (2) days, affected homes and businesses along 17th Street West, between 14th Avenue West and 8th Avenue West have been advised that water used for drinking or cooking purposes should be boiled. This precautionary notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey has demonstrated the water to be safe.
